The full skinny on MTA Metro-Norths Holiday schedule changes after the jump…

From the MTA:

MTA Metro-North Railroad’s special Holiday Timetable covers the Monday Eves (December 24 & 31) and the Tuesday holidays (December 25 & January 1). There is also additional weekday and weekend service for your holiday travel highlighted in our current October 7th timetable.

On the Fridays of December 21st and 28th, we will be providing early getaway trains departing Grand Central between 1 PM and 4:08 PM. (This will also result in some trains in the late PM peak being deleted due to decreased ridership. See a current timetable dated October 7 for details.)

On Christmas Eve (Monday, December 24), we will operate a regular Saturday schedule with additional service in the AM and PM peaks. On Christmas Day (Tuesday, December 25), we will operate a Sunday schedule. See the special Holiday Timetable for details.

We offer additional inbound midday off-peak service and outbound PM-peak service from December 26-28, making holiday sightseeing easy for you, your family, and your friends. (See a current timetable dated October 7 for details.) Purchase a ten-trip off-peak ticket and you’ll save 15% off the regular one-way peak fare to Manhattan, and the ticket can be used by more than one person, even when traveling together!

On New Year’s Eve (Monday, December 31) we will be operating a regular Saturday schedule with additional service during the AM and PM peaks. Plus, we will have extra afternoon and evening inbound service, and, of course, overnight service into the “wee hours” of January 1. Last trains will leave Grand Central between 5 AM-5:33 AM. See the special Holiday Timetable for details on both of these days. (We ask that you please refrain from bringing alcohol on our trains on New Year’s Eve and early New Year’s morning.)

December monthly ticket holders please note: Your commutation ticket will be valid on New Year’s morning between midnight and 6:30 AM, as well as for one additional courtesy ride until 10 AM on Wednesday, January 2.

Off-peak fares will be in effect for the whole four-day Christmas and New Year’s holiday weekends (Saturday-Tuesday). And you can take advantage of unrestricted parking (no meters, no permits) at many of our stations. (Check for signs at your station, or call 800-METRO-INFO; in New York City, call 212-532-4900).

Just like your holiday gifts, it is best to buy tickets early. Use WebTicket. You’ll get fast, free home delivery, and save 5% when you buy any ticket other than a monthly online. Or use one of our handy ticket machines. Remember: The fares for all tickets purchased on board the train are always significantly higher. (On New Year’s Eve, you must have your ticket before boarding the train at Grand Central or Harlem-125th Street Station.)

Holiday timetables are available at the Grand Central Information Booths, take-one bins, outlying ticket offices, or on our web site’s schedules page. (Use the link below to access our site.)
