Its official, starting in March, NYC Subway and Bus multiple-ride fares will increase, as well as Metro North monthly passes. MTA Bridge and Tunnel EZ-Pass will go up about 4%.

The discount riders recognized from the cards will be reduced from 20% to 15%, raising the cost of a ride from $1.74 to $1.67. Metro-North monthly passes will go up about 4%.

Beating the entire city to the punch, MTA Elliot G. Sander acknowledged that the increase would be ‘resoundingly unpopular’. But I guess thats what you do when you have a billion-dollar deficit.
