New Haven Line Keeps its Bar Cars – Only Commuter Line That’s Got ‘Em

I have to admit something – I have never ridden in a bar car at service time, only in the morning when they decide to short us a couple of cars and give us a bar car up front.

I don’t have that long a commute, I can grab a 32-oz or 2 and sit in my seat, thanks.

In fact, the first Metro-North commute I ever took, I had to ride sitting on the bar in the bar car, and the car temperature was about 85%.

A LOUSY introduction to Metro-North.

However, we should be thankful to have them because we are the only commuter train in the US to have them, and the Connecticut Rail Commuter Council made sure we don’t lose them.
