Traintop Riding A Common Problem In Indonesia

February 10th, 2008 by Chris (Admin) · No Comments

Recently we reported on a story of a Bronx man who attempted to ride atop a Metro-North train, and was predictably electrocuted and caught on fire.

This was an unusual story here, as we dont see that type of behavior often, but evidentally, in Indonesia its all in a days commute - and officials are promising to crack down.

CNN Reports that due to overcrowded conditions and inability to pay the fare (which is as low as $.11), a LOT of people decide to ride on top - which resulted in 53 deaths in the last two years.

A  new approach to deterrment is to spray the riders with a colored dye as the train leaves the station, so that when they arrive they can be summarily fined.
