Human Tetris Gameshow Coming to America

Watch the first 14 seconds of the video below, and you will pretty much be an expert on the fundamentals of the Japanese game show Hole In The Wall.

Its very simple - contestants stand on a platform as a moving wall with a cutout approaches them. They attempt to get their body through the cutout by mimicking the shape. If they fail, the wall pushes them into a pool of water.

Although the game makes Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader appear more intellectual than Jeopardy: Physics Week, I have to admit that this entire clip made me laugh out loud.

There’s a special element of comic timing to the show. First, there is your reaction when the cutout is revealed, which ranges from ‘doable’ to ‘ludicrous’ (usually the latter). Then there is the contestant’s reaction, which is usually a calculating disbelief. The humor value increases as the wall approaches, and climaxes as the contestant is hysterically pushed into the pond.

Now, I have no idea how long this formula could possibly keep people entertained, but FOX network execs are putting there money on it - and hey, no writers required!
