MTA Wants Congestion Pricing to Fund Metro-North to Penn Station

February 26th, 2008 by Chris (Admin) · No Comments

Daily News reports on the MTA’s campaign to encourage congestion pricing ($8 for drivers below 60th st) as a means to fund about $28B in projects, including the extension of the Metro-North line to Penn Station.

My wife was confused about why MTA would want to expand Metro-North to Penn Station.

I explained that the MTA website noted facilitating Metro-North commuters to LI and NJ as a primary reason.

She questioned why anyone would ever want to commute to New Jersey.

She also expressed concern that this might somehow lead to hordes of New Jersians and Long Islanders mulling about in Grand Central.

She insisted that StationStops.com clearly note that it is against the whole idea.

“We like Grand Central just the way it is thank you!” she added.

I have no dog in this fight.
