A Lufthansa Airbus A320 passenger jet safely aborted a landing Saturday when winds blew its left wingtip into the ground at touchdown, according to Lufthansa spokeswoman Claudia Lange.

Police report a 39-year-old woman was struck and killed by a Metro-North train just a mile east of the Westport train station in an likely suicide attempt Saturday night. The train conductor had seen the woman and set the brakes and horn to no avail.
