Now, I don’t admit to knowing much about drug enforcement, but today Greenwich Time posted a story today titled ‘Cops make marijuana bust’, reporting that 3 town men were arrested by Greenwich narcotics officers following a Tuesday night stakeout.

Whats funny is that when I read the details of the story:

• The ‘three town men’ were teenagers - one 17 (whose name they printed anyway), and two 18-year-olds.
• The ‘bust’ was not the result of the ’stakeout’ (although there was one), but the result of the men having a car accident and the police finding a bag of weed in the car door at the scene.
• The amount of the bust was less than four ounces of marijuana, or misdemeanor possession.

Whats more interesting is that they report the amount specifically as “less than 4 ounces” - this is significant because four ounces is the limit for first-offense misdemeanor possesion in Connecticut.

So, my question is - how much less than four ounces was it? Was it a joint? Was it 3.99 ounces? We’ll never know.

I mean, this is the kind of bust my high school principal would make a couple times a school year, and he probably would have just flushed it and gave them all a weeks suspension.

I kind of feel bad for these 3 kids, cause, I mean, in most town newspapers this would barely make the police log, never mind having the paper cook it up a bit in its own article.

It would have been great if they could have gotten a press conference for this with the mayor and police with all the confiscated drugs on display on a giant folding table for press photos.
