| Ironically, under the giant white pop-up reads ‘Tell us what you think of our new design’. In the survey, I described it as malignant. |
On Monday I gave the Stamford Advocate, Norwalk Advocate (which according to my count is one too many Advocates), and Greenwich Time (a mean pun that results in millions of frustrating Google results for Britains bi-annually) a hard time about never replacing the original Sun icon which came with their webservers.
Well, they didn’t take that laying down. Not only have they removed the offending icon, but they have given their sites a facelift as well, replacing their boring old white-text-on-color banners with exciting new white-text-on-GRADIENT-color banners. (I think someone got Pho-to-shop for Christmas!)
But even more exciting, it seems that their web team has finally acquired the web technology required to insert IMAGES into their stories, no doubt at great expense via foreign spies of some sort.
All of this was a necessary precursor to their biggest achievement of all, which is the new enormous flash pop-up ads which promote popular terminal diseases on a CPM basis.
Well done I say!
[clap]
PS PLEASEOPLEASEOPLEASE Take their survey on the redesign!
PPS No one can make fun of my site design because I have no budget - nyah-nyah!
PPPS Actually besides the obnoxious pop-ups its a nice improvement and the inline images are MUCH appreciated!

Your bitter attitude put a smile on my love-to-gossip face. Wow- I just clicked on the Advocate site, thinking it surely couldn’t be as bad as you portrayed… and the giant black word “CANCER” exploded onto my screen. Wow- annoying AND disturbing! I couldn’t click the words off my screen, so I just closed the page. Who at the Advocate approved THAT?
I just did the survey, but the answer blank was too long to say how enraged I am that I can’t click on a button that says “events” to learn about music and drama in the FC… I think the new Advocate design is similar to the Connecticut Post site, except the Post DOES have a calendar of events.

hehe I knew you would like this post.
I think you meant the answer blank was too short - I know, it was like trying to write a headline giving feed back in that tiny space.
Q What do you like most about the new design?
A That you learned to use the IMG tag.
Q What do you least like about the new design?
A That you learned to use the HORRIFIC_FLASH_POPUP tag.
I mean, seriously, go ahead a WAIT a week or two after you launch a redesign before you start hitting people over the head with the giant animated CANCER ads. W T F
Personally I was just impressed that the links from their rss feed worked today - oops no they didnt. sheesh.

It’s still down. How is a Stamford blogger to blog without her Advocate feed? I’m tempted to call them because I am a busybody like that… I am always calling places with weird questions that clearly flummox people.
Ahhh the cancer thing is still there! Didn’t they read our survey responses? Maybe their feed is down because they’re trying to take that ad off…

Why does the police blotter only contain Norwalk crimes? Why cant Stamford crimes get some love?

Actually it does, just not on all days!
Norwalk does have some major crime action though, I think it is worse than Stamford.
