Vatican Rockstar Pope Benedict XVI will be in New York City next week, and the security has never been tighter.

Snipers, undercover cops, radiation detectors, bomb-sniffing dogs, and frog men will be on hand to make sure the Popemobile has a smooth ride.

Over 5,000 tickets to see the Pope at St Patrick’s Cathedral were gone faster than a U2 show with special guest Hannah Montana (generally same crowd though). These attendees have been asked to not wear backpacks for security reasons.

For non-ticket holders, Daily News reports that “The public has been invited to flock to Fifth Ave. between 53rd St. and 70th St. to see the Pope deliver his blessing from his bulletproof Mercedes-Benz.”
