The Danbury News-Times reports a woman who was struck by a Metro-North train in Danbury at 7 PM Monday appeared to have deliberately stepped or jumped in front of the train. Amazingly, the woman survived and was rushed to Danbury Hospital, where her condition was unknown, reports the Danbury News-Times.

The accident happened just south of the East Liberty Street crossing, near , as the train headed north to Danbury from Bethel.

Officials say approximately 6-12 people are killed by Metro-North Trains each year as a result of suicide or unsafe behavior.
