Bar Car On New Haven Line Now A ‘Tiki Bar’ – A Westin Hotel Promotion

The Bar Car On The Metro-North New Haven Line gets a Tiki Bar makeover courtesy of Westin Hotels.Sometimes wall-to-wall train advertising is welcome, as is the case with Westin’s hotel’s new makeover of the New Haven Line Bar Car into a Polynesian Tiki Bar theme. The car previously had all the sex appeal of a 1970’s public school cafeteria. AMNY Subway Tracker has the details.

Personally, I would prefer that MTA do its own remodel of this car, to make it look like a regular car, because this bar car is used regularly in the *morning* to supplement the lack of regular cars. I can attest that sitting on top of that bar on the way to work in the morning because there are no seats IS NOT COMFORTABLE.

Unfortunately, the new M-8 cars will take forever to get here, will probably be delayed by the Rell New Haven Rail Yard budget fiasco, and even once they do ship, they will trickle in slowly over months.

PS At least its not a Hilton Hotel promotion.
