Once in a while the wife will be watching Oprah, and to tell you the truth, I usually don’t mind, because Oprah Winfrey is an amazing human being and very entertaining.
We also watch American Idol together, for the first time this season, and enjoy it.
However, Oprah had this 15-year-old Filipina Girl, Charice Pempengco, fly in 15 hours to come sing on her special show about talented kids (including a 3-year-old drummer).
If you didn’t catch it, you should check it out, because it is better than most of the performances on Americal Idol, and way more jaw-dropping. Here she is singing Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing“:

Oops sorry my mistake – I have corrected.
On the Oprah show they showed her singing on a Korean talent show, so I mistakenly thought she was Korean.
In the US we have a mixed ethnicity so it is not unusual to have last names not match either ethnicity or nationality.

Thanks for featuring this girl here. I actually watched this particular Oprah show too. And when this girl sung I just got goosebumps and tears. She is truly amazing….Thanks again!

at her age..that’s phenomenal..when I heard her sing I got turned off with american idol performers..I couldn’t imagine how she would sound when she gets older few more years..

I’ve never had any interest in watching to just regular singers but this girl changed that. She really blown me away. She really is an amazing kid.

I think that she was very good, but I have seen kids here in the Houston area that sound better. I think that people are acting like this girl is a small child (she does look young for her age), but Beyonce was already making albums at this age. Let’s not forget what Celine Dion was singling like at 15, or Whitney herself.

heheh, Beyonce may have been making albums at 15, but she does not sound anywhere as good as this young girl. You should check out Charice’s version of the Beyonce original, “Listen.” She sings it better than Bey, IMHO. Even extends the notes more than Bey, thereby making her version more difficult. And she does it with far more ease than Beyonce, LIVE. Beyonce always looks like she’s struggling when she has to sing “Listen” live.
Trust me, Charice is the girl that will inherit the throne of Whitney, Mariah and Celine.
She has the range, control, power and strange presence to become a genuine star. Not to mention, this girl is a FANTASTIC dancer.
Most divas can only sing. But Charice is both an EXCELLENT singer and dancer.
She will be a diva, like we have not seen before.
