Farlander’s, one of the new movies filming in Stamford this summer, was shooting at The Dragonfly Lounge and Remo’s in downtown Stamford last Friday. But don’t get too used to the star sightings and traffic jams - Farlanders is scheduled to pick up and move to Tuscon on June 1.

The movie, directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Jarhead), features an all-star cast, including John Krasinski (The Office ), Maggie Gyllenhaal ( The Dark Knight ), Allison Janney ( Juno ), Jeff Daniels ( The Squid And The Whale ), Catherine O’Hara ( For Your Consideration ), Cheryl Hines ( Curb Your Enthusiasm ), Maya Rudolph ( SNL ), and comic Jim Gaffigan (whom I recently saw opening for Brian Posehn (The Sarah Silverman Program) at Comix).

The movie also stars Melanie Lynskey, whom you may not have heard of. This Kiwi-born actress has had some recurring characters on ‘Two and A Half Men‘ and the ill-fated series ‘Drive‘. I remember her best as the bone-chilling sado-masochist wife ‘Marcy’ from two episodes of my favorite show, ‘The Shield‘, back in 2003.

StationStops spoke to Farlanders publicist Rob Harris on Friday. Rob wanted to make it clear that the name ‘Farlanders’ was only a working title and would not be the title of the film. Interestingly, between the time I spoke with him and Monday evening, the IMDB record had been changed from ‘Farlanders’ to ‘Untitled Sam Mendes Project‘.

The plot synopsis of Farlanders is a comedy where “A couple (John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph) who is expecting their first child travel around the U.S. in order to find a perfect place to start their family. “.

Farlanders is scheduled for a 2009 release by Focus Films.
