Every year this nice lady in my neighborhood organizes a big block party. Featuring delicious pizza & ice cream, its a fun opportunity to catch up with your neighbors.
That truck is a restored 1946 International Harvester. But its not just any old truck - its got a brick oven in the middle of it, and an ice cream machine in the back. I think it even has an espresso machine.
How cool is that?
Novelty aside, the pizza that comes out of that thing is amazing - its got a nice char on the bottom, the crust is crispy-soft, and they have a huge creative variety of pizzas. This year the big hit was the potato-bacon pizza, but the shrimp pizza is an annual favorite as well.
Last year’s party was a big success, and I guess word caught on, because we had tons more people this year, and lots more kids.
The name of the pizza caterer, is, appropriately enough, “Big Green Truck Pizza“, which is run by Douglas Coffin catering. I highly reccommend them for your next big get-together.
This post is dedicated to Max, who is one of the dogs owned by the lady who organizes the block party. Max passed away last week. He used to take his walk every day with my dog Murphy. We miss you Max!
