Subway Station MapSmoke and fumes from a burning escalator motor at the subway station at 53rd and 7th Ave (B, D, E Lines) caused several people to go to the hospital for respiratory problems yesterday morning, and the station was evacuated.

A food cart vendor near the station entrance reported seeing 10-15 people running out of the station with their hands or napkins over their mouth, unable to breathe.
