Saturday Night Live has picked Upright Citizen’s Brigade alum and Wilton native Abby Elliot to replace Amy Poehler - Poehler left the show this year after the birth of her child.

The Upright Citizen’s Brigade is also Poehler’s alma mater. I will never forget this, as I spent one hot evening sitting on the crowded floor next to the stage at UCB watching Poehler perform 30 inches from my face years before she did SNL. My improv friend made me go because he had worked with her a couple of times and asked me if he should ‘go for it’.

Abby Elliot is the daughter of comedian Chris Elliot, who I will always fondly remember as ‘The Guy Under The Seats‘ on the original Late Night With David Letterman. (I also remember the disappointment of Cabin Boy, and my indifference at his short-lived sitcom Get A Life, with his legendary father Bob Elliot, of the hilarious comedy team Bob and Ray).

Wilton is home to most of the hilariously entertaining girls I know, so I’m sure Abby will be a hit on SNL.
