Update!: Here is the website, TransitCheck, which manages the benefit – send this URL to your employer or HR department if they don’t already offer the benefit – could save you $1000/year!

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has announced that thanks to a recent federal aid package, tax breaks for Metro-North (and LIRR) commuters to NYC have nearly doubled from $120 to $230 a month, and encourages more employers to take advantage of the program.

If you are an MNR or LIRR commuter, and are not receiving any benefits from your employer for your ticket costs, you might want to let them know!

I have contacted Senator Schumer’s office to ask for more information which employees could provide to their employer/HR department in lobbying for them to enroll with the program.

If there are any HR people who currently administer this program, please contact StationStops and let us know how the program works for you.
