StationStops has received a great deal of welcome news coverage in the past week so that the public is kept up to date in its battle with the MTA.

The public response to this coverage has been a tremendous source of support for us and I thank everyone for all the emails, phone calls, comments, tweets, and Facebook messages.

I wanted to thank the following news organizations for covering our story:

1. Martin Cassidy’s lead story in The Stamford Advocate.

We were the lead story on Saturday’s paper! This is the most in-depth coverage we have received, and the first time MTA has officially stated that they have no concerns with our website.

This was especially important to me as Stamford is one of the largest Metro-North stations, if not the largest, on any of the lines. This story also ran in The Advocate’s Norwalk and Greenwich editions as well as in the Connecticut Post.

2. Kent Pierce’s lead story on WTNH Channel- 8 on Thursday, August 13th.

Again, this was the lead story at 6 PM and also ran at noon and 5.

3. Shawna Ryan’s story on News 12 on Saturday and Sunday, August 15th and 16th

Unfortunately the story is not available on their website, but I have a copy I will post soon.

Shawna did an excellent job in boiling down an interview which had a lot of detail – she even interviewed Metro-North customers at a station waiting for a train, which is a voice so unheard in this fight.

4. Techdirt’s August 14th Article

Techdirt is one of the oldest websites around, and focuses on technology and legal issues affecting business growth. Techdirt has lambasted other transit companies in the past for the same behavior regarding false claims on intellectual property.

5. Today’s Article on TrainJotting

TrainJotting is a Metro-North transit blog as well, so I appreciated him covering my story.

6. WTIC’s 1080 Thursday, August 13th Article by Matt Dwyer

Other Special Thanks

Ann Nyberg at WTNH. Ann Nyberg did not hesitate in sending this story to her news director, which is why all of this press resulted. We hadn’t even sent out a press release yet as we have not yet responded to MTA’s cease and desist. She’s my hero.

MTA and Metro-North Employees

Some people have tweeted and emailed their support anonymously stating that they were MTA and/or Metro-North employees. I have no way of confirming this, but I thank them for their support.

I want to underscore that my battle with MTA is limited to its marketing and legal departments. I have nothing but good word for the MTA employees who face the public each day, and especially have a great deal of respect for the Metro-North conductors.

I have watched conductors deal with drunks, drug addicts, numerous ticketless passengers, and they have personally apologized on occasion when AC or seating was nonexistant. They have to ride those trains more than any of us, and I salute them for it.

Jim Cameron From the Connecticut Commuter Rail Council

Jim has expressed his personal support in the Stamford Advocate article and I thank him greatly for his words.

I also want to thank a representative of Governor Jodi Rell’s office I spoke with last week for taking the time to educate themselves about my story.

tell ‘em where to shove it. I am certain that the ALU can help you with this. That schedule is PUBLIC, and should not be limited by any license.
