Milford CT Police Release Dash Cam Video of Cruiser Killing Teens

Milford CT police have released the a dash cam video of one of their cruisers driving recklessly prior to killing two teens last summer.

Although there is no gore or bodies in the video, its shocking and infuriating to watch.

The video was recorded by the dashboard camera of Milford Police Officer Rick Pisani as he returned from a mutual aid call in West Haven at 2:13 AM, June 13th, 2009.

According to the dashboard camera, Pisani is traveling at a speed of 66 MPH in a 40 MPH zone of Boston Post Road when he is passed on the right by fellow officer Jason Anderson, who is traveling at a speed of 94 MPH according to a State Police statement.

Neither officer is responding to a call and, shockingly, neither officer has their lights or sirens on despite their outrageous speeds. It seems both officers are simply speeding – perhaps even racing each other.

26 seconds into the video, Anderson’s vehicle strikes a 2008 Mazda carrying Ashlie Krakowski, 19, and David Servin, 19, both of Orange. Krakowski and Servin were killed in the crash.

Anderson suffered minor injuries, has been suspended with pay, and faces two counts of vehicular manslaughter and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Anderson surrendered to the State Police on November 10th and is free on $250,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on Tuesday.

The video was released in response to a Freedom of Information request filed by the New Haven Register.

WTNH-TV has excellent coverage of this story here.

It’s sad that there was such a price to pay for something of this magnitude but the officer should have to pay for the offense everybody else does, he isn’t above the law he’s human just like everybody else and he should have to pay.
