STATIONSTOPS VERSION 2.0 SUBMITTED TO APPLE ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 5th
Due to the late arrival of the latest Metro-North Schedule databases which took effect on April 11, 2010, the current database on StationStops for iPhone 1.4 is out of date.
In most cases, the same trains changed times by a few minutes.
The new database required new code, so we worked 12-hour days and an all-nighter to push out StationStops 2.0 as soon as the database was made available to us.
Unfortunately, we have to wait for Apple to approve the update and insert it into the iTunes store. A process which we have no control or information as to timing whatsoever.
Thanks for everyone’s patience, if we had known how long it would have taken to get the new database normalized and for Apple to approve, we would have pushed out a data-only update to 1.5. That was a bad decision on our part.
The good news is this: StationStops 2.0 is all-new, and most significantly includes station to station information. It is also designed from the ground-up to include OTA schedule updates, so that the Apple review process will no longer be a bottleneck for getting the newest database to you.
Previously, as many of you know, StationStops 2.0 was a solo project which created its own database.
Thanks to the outstanding work of MTA brought about by the confirmation of MTA CEO Jay Walder, StationStops and other MTA apps moving forward will have better data, with more features.
Unfortunately, the Metro-North schedule specifically changed at a critical point in these changes, and the stars didn’t line up correctly. To get you the data, new code, and transfer information on time.
For this we sincerely apologize.
2.1 Will be pushed out as soon as possible to address transfers, minor bugs in 2.0, and missing features.
After that, we will be over this rough patch and the end result will be that timely schedule updates will no longer be problematic.
StationStops is an iPhone Application which allows to riders check the regular schedule for trains coming into and out of Grand Central, with or without an internet connection.
